1. Please tell me your name and title, and where you are from.

2. Why should skin and laser treatment be normalised?

I feel it’s not so much about normalising skin and laser treatments, but rather giving people affordable options to allow them to make informed decisions about treatments for their face and body. There is so much societal pressure to look good, and even more pressure to spend an unnecessary amount to achieving these goals. I believe in demystifying skin and laser treatments and educating our clients on their options.

3. Who is your average customer and what are the most popular treatments? Have you seen a growth in people seeking these treatments?

At Laser Clinics Australia we look after a wide range of people of varying ages, demographics, gender preferences and we are proud to take care of everyone. Narrowing it down, our average customer would be between the ages of 20 to 50, and values looking after themselves, knowing that treatment is easy and affordable.

Our most popular treatment is laser hair removal. Permanent hair reduction for both men and women has always been popular, but we are seeing a big uptake in our skin treatments and cosmetic injectables. Here in Queensland the exposure to our harsh climate can wreak havoc on our skin and accelerate ageing, so preventative measures are critical in minimising the damage from the sun. Keeping our skin healthy also preserves collagen and slows down ageing, which is always a good thing.

4. Tell me about your recent awards.

This year, I was awarded both the 2022 Qld/NT Franchisee of the Year, as well as the Australian Franchisee of the Year. Truthfully, winning the Qld/NT award was thrilling enough and I was so proud of that, but to then receive the National award was incredible. There are countless wonderful owners in our network of 136 clinics, many of whom I know personally and respect enormously, so to be singled out like this was a real honour.

5. Why are women reluctant to speak about cosmetic treatment?

I have always found it interesting how differently people feel about sharing their cosmetic treatment journey. In recent years there has been a shift in how and why people talk about the choices they make regarding their face and body, due largely to social media and the impact ‘influencers’ have on society. It has become more acceptable to not only share these choices with friends and family but also with anyone who may follow you on your social media platforms. There is something really liberating watching people do that. There are also people whose choices are deeply personal, and they chose to keep their treatment private. I have huge respect for both. In the end I believe that women and men are reluctant to speak about cosmetic treatments for fear of judgement. This is a great shame, as no one should judge you for how you choose to invest in yourself.

6. What is your beauty philosophy?

I feel very strongly that, when it comes to beauty, I will only do what is right for me. I love seeing new trends and will always be curious about new treatments, but I won’t do something just because it is trending or new. People often ask me about what treatments I do, and I’m very happy to share, but I also am clear that there may be other options better suited for them.

Ultimately, it is your face and body and therefore your choice about how you invest in yourself.
