Women & Leadership Australia has opened nominations for the 2022 Australian Awards for  Excellence in Women’s Leadership.

The awards recognise individuals who advocate for equity both as leaders and as community  members, and who take tangible actions to elevate more women leaders.

Suzi Finkelstein, CEO of Women & Leadership Australia, said championing women in leadership is as  critical as ever.

“We know it is so important to recognise the contributions that women make in our society. By  celebrating outstanding women leaders we can raise the profile of women in leadership roles,  progress the public conversation around diversity in leadership, and provide positive role models for  the next generation.

“Our annual Awards for Excellence in Women’s Leadership celebrate and spotlight inspirational  women leaders across all states and sectors. Women who, by virtue of their actions, create  opportunities for other women to advance in all areas of our society,” said Ms Finkelstein.

Natasha Stott-Despoja AO, the 2021 recipient of the National Award for Excellence in Women’s  Leadership, said it was an honour to join such a distinguished list of past recipients, including Nova  Peris OAM, Julia Gillard AC, Tracey Spicer AM and more.

“In this Covid era, the leadership of women from different backgrounds and all regions should be  celebrated,” Ms Stott-Despoja said.

Nominations for the 2022 Awards are open to the public and will close on 26 November at 5pm  ADST. To nominate an outstanding women leader, visit the Women & Leadership Australia website..

Recipients of the National Award and State and Territory awards will be announced in early 2022.

About the awards:

The Australian Awards for Excellence in Women’s Leadership were launched in 2014 to increase  visibility of outstanding Australian female leaders and build momentum for gender equity in  leadership positions across all industries and the broader community. The awards are nominated by  members of the public and presented to recipients at the Australian Women’s Leadership  Symposiums, which are held annually across Australia.
