Good Food

With the simple mission of helping Aussies discover the numerous benefits of Black Seed, Australian supplements brand Hab Shifa knows a thing or two about this humble seed that has been studied and used by communities around the world for thousands of years.

Rich in active ingredient thymoquinone (TQ) which has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, organic Black Seed is jammed packed with some mighty health benefits including, improving your immunity, assisting in improving your skins condition and reducing high blood pressure and cholesterol.

With these health benefits, it’s a wonder how this supplement has been left largely unknown and unexplored in Australia. Backed with 30 years of research into its uses and benefits as well as numerous medical studies, Hab Shifa’s non-GMO and organically certified Black Seeds are also extremely versatile and can be used as a delicious addition to virtually all recipes.

Being a prominent health food that can be taken on its own as a supplement, sprinkled on top of any meal, accredited nutritionist, recipe developer and Hab Shifa ambassador Faye James says it’s the secret ingredient that everyone should add to their food.

“Black Seed has a delicious robust flavour that’s slightly bitter and spicy. It’s often compared to cumin seed, onion and oregano but has a nuttier flavour,” she says.

“It’s extremely delicious and versatile, and has been used in Indian, Middle Eastern, and North African cuisines.”

If you’re looking to boost your immunity (be it for winter or all year round), why not try Faye’s deliciously wholesome Vegan Creamy Spiced Cauliflower recipe?

· 1 tbsp tomato paste

· 1 can chickpeas, rinsed and drained

· 200g green beans

· 200g spinach leaves

· Coconut yoghurt and Hab Shifa Organic Black Seeds to serve

Method

1. Preheat oven to 220°C. Line a baking tray with baking paper.

2. Break the cauliflower into florets and place them with the garam masala and olive oil in a large bowl and toss to coat.

3. Place on baking tray and cook for 20 minutes or until tender and lightly charred. 4. While the cauliflower is roasting, make the curry paste by placing the cashews and boiling water  in a small bowl and set aside for 5 minutes to soak.

5. Place the garlic, turmeric, Activated Black Seed and tomato paste and small food processor and process until finely chopped. Drain the cashews, add to the processor and process until smooth. 6.
